Canandaigua Poetry Festival Brings Prose Back to Finger Lakes
(PRWEB) August 30, 2007 -- Canandaigua Poetry Festival is celebrating their second year this fall at the Commons in Downtown Canandaigua. The date is set for Saturday, September 8th, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Commons stage on the corner of Coach and Main Streets.
Many remember last year when the city of Canandaigua, New York opened its hearts to poets in the Finger Lakes area. This year promises to bring prose of love, despair, change of seasons, and emotions will flow, as well as songs with lyrics from famous and not so famous artists in the Finger Lakes area are to perform.
"The Canandaigua Poetry Festival is a marathon poetry festival," Marie Starr says. She is running the event, and she is the MC, arranging the line up of entertainers that literally have fifteen minutes of fame. Don Stevens and Scott Mackey from Wick-edly Sent Soap and Candle Company are helping to put things in perspective, and more importantly, making sure the festival still goes on.
After the closing of the Blue Dahlia, a coffee shop where the poets originally performed weekly, the poets are now looking forward to coming back to Canandaigua, even if it's only for the poetry festival. The Business Improvement District is happy to provide the stage at the newly renovated Commons on Coach and Main Streets, and hopes the festival will continue to become a yearly event.
